Position Summary
The Financial Assistance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Financial Assistance and Education & Empowerment Programs. These programs are designed to support individuals and families experiencing financial crises by providing immediate assistance and connecting them to essential resources, including food and basic needs. The goal is to empower clients to achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
This role includes the development and maintenance of educational materials, coordination of volunteer involvement, and daily oversight of program operations. The coordinator ensures the delivery of consistent, high-quality service, and works closely with internal staff and external partners to maintain a strong support network for clients.

The Financial Assistance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Financial Assistance and Education & Empowerment Programs. The goal is to empower clients to achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
This role includes the development and maintenance of educational materials, coordination of volunteer involvement, and daily oversight of program operations. The coordinator ensures the delivery of consistent, high-quality service, and works closely with internal staff and external partners to maintain a strong support network for clients.
- Train and supervise the Intake Coordinator to ensure efficient client intake processes.
- Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers involved in financial assistance interviews and client empowerment counseling; maintain and update educational materials.
- Collaborate with the Intake Coordinator to manage and enhance multi-media educational content displayed in client waiting areas.
- Conduct annual client satisfaction surveys and periodic needs assessments to guide program development and resource allocation.
- Oversee client appointments, advocate on clients’ behalf, and follow up on pledges with landlords, utility providers, and other vendors.
- Coordinate with the Intake Coordinator to manage appointment scheduling, fund availability, and volunteer shifts to ensure optimal use of financial resources.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations in interviewing clients and conducting follow-ups to support empowerment post-program participation.
- Monitor monthly expenditures of grant funding, including funds allocated for educational and empowerment activities.
- Manage volunteer appointment calendars for financial assistance services and educational programming.
- Research, develop, and recommend new resources and programs to meet clients’ evolving needs.
- Prepare and submit weekly accounts payable check requests to the Director of Operations/Bookkeeper.
- Facilitate meetings with the Financial Assistance Advisory Team as needed.
- Coordinate with community partners (e.g., Community Ministries, Unite US, CAP, DHS, local clinics) to ensure effective client referrals.
- Represent the organization in scheduled Association of Community Ministry meetings.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with external vendors and service providers.
- Ensure accurate data entry and timely reporting: maintain monthly accountability records, update Charity Tracker weekly, and prepare monthly program statistics.
- Assist the Director of Operations with additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 1–3 years of relevant experience in training, administration, and supervision.
- Commitment to the mission and values of community ministry.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster positive relationships with staff, volunteers, clients, and external partners.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluent in Spanish a plus but not required.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and attend to both the big picture and detailed tasks.
- Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated.
- Comfortable with basic accounting, including calculator use and simple recordkeeping.
- Able to work independently with moderate supervision.
